Cookies & Storage Policy

01How A Browser Game Uses Storage
Unlike conventional games that install 80GB of files onto your hard drive, BrowserTopia runs entirely inside your modern web browser via WebGL/Canvas2D and WebSockets.
To remember your player session, prevent you from retyping your credentials every time you switch worlds, and keep your custom keybindings, we use standard browser storage mechanisms: HTTP Cookies and the Web Storage API (localStorage).
02Breakdown of Storage Keys We Use
| Key / Cookie Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| bt_session_jwt | Secure Cookie / localStorage | Cryptographic player token for game server WebSocket handshake | 30 Days |
| bt_audio_settings | localStorage | Master, BGM, and Sound Effects volume levels | Persistent |
| bt_keybindings | localStorage | Custom keyboard mappings (e.g. WASD, Space, Crafting hotkeys) | Persistent |
| bt_canvas_zoom | localStorage | Display resolution and viewport zoom preferences | Persistent |
03Tracking Cookies We Proactively REJECT
04How to Manage or Clear Your Storage
Because BrowserTopia values your freedom, you can clear or reset all local client storage at any moment without penalty:
- In Google Chrome / Chromium: Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Delete browsing data, or press F12 > Application > Clear site data.
- In Mozilla Firefox: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Clear Data.
- In Apple Safari: Go to Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data.
*Note: Clearing your local storage will log you out of your current session and reset your custom keybindings to defaults. Your actual inventory and world blocks are safely preserved on the server database.
